Camp Description:

(Ages 7-12)

Children will work daily with Sally Giray, renowned director and playwright. At the end of the week, a performance will given for parents and friends.

 

Theatre Skills:

Strengthen the power of speech & diction

Strengthen observation skills, body language, & presentation

Build self-confidence

Give a sense of ease in any chosen role

About the Instructor:

Sally Ann Giray has over 30 years experience in theater as playwright, director & teacher.  In 1994 Sally was granted US Residency as an International Artist for her innovative use of theater space in addition to her critically acclaimed performances in Europe.

 

(brief summary of resume')

'MICHELANGELO, RENAISSANCE MAN'  The High Museum commissioned Sally to create and perform a drama for their 2001 Michelangelo Exhibit.  This resulted in the successful presentation acclaimed by local residents & overseas visitors.

 

'T.S. ELIOT AT THE TATE' & 'SOMEBODY HAS TO TELL PICASSO'  Sally's original Special Events at the Tate Gallery in London are among the thirteen plays staged either in London or here in the States.

 

'EBENEZER'  A musical, opened at Theater Macon in '89, book and lyrics by Sally, music composed by Chuck Leavell, keyboards player for the Rolling Stones.

 

'STARCHILD'  In 1996, Sally Ann directed the World Premier of this opera, as one of the cultural events for the Olympic Games.

 

'THE HIP HOP HURRY UP'  A drama was conceived and directed for teens and acted by teens to promote the prevention of AIDS throughout Georgia.

 

'WHAT THE MOON SAW'  A spoken word presentation of the people through History who have traveled the banks of the Chattahoochee River, written and performed by Sally.

 

'PRAYERS FROM THE FLOWERS'  Published in 1998, the book has touched the hearts of her readers throughout the States.

 

Sally's work has been aired on CNN's 'World Trends' and on PBS.
