ESL is English as studied by people who speak other languages as their first language, but live in a place where English is the first language. We at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church offer an ESL program, free of charge, to the surrounding community.  We welcome people of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds and of all levels, and strive to unite us all with a common language.

Levels (Niveles):

1 - Don't understand or speak English (No entiendo ni hablo ingles)

2 - Understand and speak a little English.  Can say numbers and dates. (Entiendo y hablo un poquito de ingles.  Puedo decir numeros y datos.)

3 - Understand and speak English pretty well.  Know the names of items in a room. (Entiendo y hablo bastante bien el ingles.  Yo se los nombres de cosas en un cuarto.)

4 - Understand very well when speaking with people in English.  Can understand well when reading English.  Know the names of items in a house, the grocery store, and the office.  (Entiendo mucho cuando hablo con personas en ingles.  Puedo entender mucho cuando leer ingles.  Yo se los nombres de cosas en mi casa, en el mercado, y en las oficina.)

5 - Understand and speak very well, but need to work on professional vocabulary and accent reduction.  (Entiendo y hablo muy bien.  Necesito aumentar mi vocabulario professional y disminuir mi accento.)
