PRUMC - High School Basketball
Rules and Regulations

Participation:

 All teams must pay the team fee by the registration deadline.

All teams must provide 2 co-captains

All teams must provide one parent to be present on the bench at all games. 

All players must have an individual waiver signed by a parent or guardian.  

No individual may participate unless he appears on a team's roster and his/her individual waiver is on file. 

Players who appear on any high school varsity basketball roster for the current school year are ineligible to participate.

Game Rules:

Georgia High School Basketball rules will apply unless specified below: 

A team must have a minimum of four players on the floor to begin play.  A grace period of 10 minutes past the scheduled game start time will be granted to allow for players to arrive. If play cannot begin after that time, the game will be considered a forfeit. 

Game time:  2 - 20 minute halves utilizing a running clock. The clock will stop during the last minute of the second half and for all time outs. Overtime periods will be two minutes and the clock will stop during the final minute.  In a second overtime period, the first team to score will determined the winner.

Time outs: 2 - 30 second time outs per half. One extra time out per overtime period. Time outs may not be carried over.

A  five-minute warm up period will be allowed prior to each game.

No full court press allowed by a team with a lead in excess of 20 points.  Clock will continue to run during final minute if a team leads by more than 20.

Please make note of the following:

Each player will be awarded five fouls per game.

Two technical fouls on a player or coach and that player or coach must leave the gym.

Two technical fouls in one game to a specific player will equal in an automatic ejection.

A player who has been ejected from a game for any reason will not be allowed to play in the next game.

Policies Regarding Inappropriate Behavior:   

PRUMC Sports and Recreation is committed to promoting good sportsmanship by players, coaches, and spectators at all of its events. Profanity, degrading remarks, and intimidating actions directed at officials or competitors will not be tolerated, and are grounds for removal from the event site. Thank you for your cooperation in the promotion of good sportsmanship at our events."

Rules and Procedures:

1.       A parent is required to be on the bench at all times.  The parent’s responsibility is to help ensure his or her players adherence to the above policy.

2.       The referees are in charge of the games at all times.  If a referee determines behavior by players, spectators or coaches to be inappropriate during games they will make the decision to call a technical foul, eject players or spectators, or cancel games. 

Alcohol and drug use:

In the event of an alcohol or drug use incident the facility may be closed at any time, at the sole discretion of the PRUMC staff.

4.       In the event a player is suspected of alcohol or drug use, there will be a conference held between referees, PRUMC staff and the bench parent.   The referee, at his or her sole discretion, may eject the player from the game.  If a player is ejected from a game for suspicion of alcohol or drug use, he or she will be placed in the custody of the bench parent.
