CARL E. SANDERS FAMILY YMCA @ BUCKHEAD RECREATIONAL SOCCER LEAGUE
General Rules and Policies :
1. The coach is responsible for the behavior of parents and spectators associated with his/her team.
2. Coaches need to communicate with players in a positive manner. Abusive language and tone will not be tolerated. Remember, this is a recreational league!
3. Arguing with referees will not be tolerated.
A. The first violation will result in a verbal warning.
B. A second violation will result in ejection for the remainder of the game.
C. The third violation will result in dismissal for the season.
4. Parents or spectators arguing with the referee will be asked to leave the fields.
5. Unsportsmanlike like conduct will not be tolerated by players, coaches, parents, or spectators.
A. If such incidents take place, those parents and spectators who violate this policy may be asked to leave the field.
B. If such incidents take place, those players and coaches who violate this policy will be reprimanded according to the Official rules of YMCA soccer.
6. If problems or concerns occur with a referee, please contact the field supervisor.
Calls will not be change by the Field Supervisor.
7. Coaches and players must remain on one side of the field, parents and spectators must be on the opposite side of the field.
A. Coaches, parents, and spectators must remain one yard behind the sidelines
B. Spectators standing at the end of fields will not be permitted for safety reasons.
8. Games may be canceled or suspended for lightning, bad weather conditions, or heat.
The referee or field supervisor will make decisions on canceled or suspended games. In case of lighting you will be asked to leave the field, and wait 20 minutes, at this point the Field Supervisor will decide if it is safe playing conditions.
9. Slide tackling is not permitted in any division.
A. This includes both offensive and defensive sliding plays for the following reasons:
1. A defensive tackle is dangerous and may cause injury to any party involved.
2. An offensive slide to strike the ball is both dangerous, and gives the offensive player a distinct advantage over a defensive player who is
challenging for the same ball.
10. All substitutions are “Free Substitutions,” and are the responsibility of the coach to make certain that he does not exceed the maximum number of players on the field at one time.
11. Shin guards are mandatory for all players.
A. Please inform your players and their parents that shin guards are worn under a players socks and must be covered entirely by their socks. If they have no shin guards for practice or games they must sit out. No exceptions.
12. Age group rules may not be altered by coaches. The Sports Director may change age division to insure that all children registered will play.
U12 BOYS / GIRLS
Complete Game time: 60 minutes (two 30 minute halves).
Ball size: #4 (Hand stitched). The game ball will be provided by the
Home team (listed first on the schedule).
Maximum players on roster: 15 (roster size will decrease to 13 players next season)
Players to a side: 6 (If a team is short players, the opposing team should “share” players.
Coaches must notify the referee before a substitution can occur.
Coaches are required to play all players at least half of the game. They should also be played in every quarter and have the opportunity to play all positions.
Designate a head coach if more than one is present for games.
Coaches must designate a linesperson. (One per team, calls throw-ins only).
Goalies: six second rule is in effect. Rollback rule is in effect.
In a throw in situation, players must keep both feet on the ground. No re-try.
Pushing, hand balls, tripping, and unsportsmanlike conduct will be called.
Off sides WILL be enforced.
Parents must remain off of the sidelines, and from behind the goal.
Parents on one side, and 2 coaches on the player’s side.
Referees will explain calls to players.
Coaches should use praise and enthusiasm when working with the players.
SLAUGHTER RULE
If a team is losing by three goals, that team may place an additional player on the field to
gain a man advantage. If unable to do so (no substitutes available) the team that is
leading should remove a player. The advantage stands until the deficit falls below three.
This has long been an unwritten tradition at the Y, we are now putting it in writing.
